Cannondale Unveils New Electric Commuter Bike with Carbon Frame and Bosch Power

Cannondale has recently launched the Tesoro Neo Carbon, a sleek and high-performance electric commuter bike designed to provide an exceptional riding experience. Drawing inspiration from its popular Synapse road bike, Cannondale has created a carbon-framed e-bike with a powerful Bosch motor.

The Tesoro Neo Carbon’s frame is based on the design of the Synapse endurance racer, offering a lightweight and sturdy construction. The frame also features internally routed cables, ensuring smooth lines and a clean appearance. Additionally, the bike is equipped with a Series 2 carbon fork. Although the weight of the e-bike is advertised as 16 kg (35 lb), the specific weight for each of the available frame sizes has not been specified.

At the core of the Tesoro Neo Carbon is Bosch’s 250-Watt Performance Line SX mid-drive motor, providing seamless pedal-assist up to speeds of 27 km/h (16.7 mph). The bike is powered by a 400-Wh PowerTube battery, which can be extended with a range extender of 250-Wh capacity. Unfortunately, the exact range per charge has not been disclosed by Cannondale. The e-bike is equipped with a simplified top-tube display for easy access to status information while riding, offering a convenient alternative to touchscreens found in other commuter models.

Climbing hills becomes effortless with the inclusion of a SRAM 12-speed gearset, enhancing the overall performance of the e-bike. The Tesoro Neo Carbon comes with alloy wheels fitted with puncture-resistant 700x35c Vittoria Terrone Zero tires for a smooth and safe ride. Furthermore, the bike features SRAM hydraulic disc brakes with 160-mm rotors, delivering reliable and responsive stopping power.

The Tesoro Neo Carbon also offers a comfortable riding position with an alloy flatbar and ergo grips. The bike includes pannier mounts at the back, allowing riders to carry up to 8 kg (17.5 lb) of belongings. For enhanced safety, the e-bike is equipped with front and rear lighting, ensuring visibility during daytime and nighttime rides. Additionally, alloy fenders are installed to protect the rider from dirt and splashes.

Cannondale offers two models of the Tesoro Neo Carbon. The Tesoro Neo Carbon 2, featuring a mid-range drivetrain, is priced at €4,999 (approximately US$5,495). The higher-end Tesoro Neo Carbon 1 model, equipped with an upgraded drivetrain, is available for €5,899. It is important to note that these models are currently only available in Europe.

Overall, the Tesoro Neo Carbon presents an enticing option for commuters seeking a high-performance e-bike that combines style, functionality, and advanced technology. With its carbon frame, Bosch power, and various additional features, this commuter e-bike from Cannondale is sure to impress cyclists of all levels.
